Our Project
We developed the old Parbold Health Club into a Community Cafe, Youth Centre and Training facility that is seeded by donations & grants then, once self sufficient, it generates its own funds from 2 x small businesses:
2011 Update (Phase 2): Pear Tree Community Cafe has a refurbishment donated by a very kind local businessman and re-opened in July 2011 as "Coffee Etc"
One of our young people wrote an article for a local newspaper asking for help - the original community cafe was constructed on a "shoestring" and was really struggling in the recession - the request was answered and in June 2011, it was re-furbished and re-opened as a facility the youth club can be really proud of.
Never forget - the original Community Cafe...........
The original Pear Tree Community Cafe - Opened in 2010
PHASE 1 Grand Opening !
About to cut the Tape at our OFFICIAL OPENING on 1st April 2010
Helping Others We have a desire to help other young people engage in similar projects - success looks like us being able to grant fund other start-ups and provide time, expertise and materials to help others in other communities (cities, towns, villages alike)
The name Parbold derives from "Pear Orchard"
The name "Parbold" is an Old English place name meaning "dwelling where pears grow" - hence the Pears in the logos above!
We also hope to host gatherings on Sundays and Weekday Evenings where the wider questions about life, the universe and everything can be explored .... if there is interest ....
